7 Reasons to go Makeup Free

Beauty has varied throughout time, various cultures, and the vast different perceptions of the world. It has been described and depicted through pictures and concepts penetrating our minds. Beauty is often distorted, misunderstood, and shadowed by a wide amount of conflicting pressures. It is something we endlessly strive for, rather than see in the true essence of our happiest moments. It is high time we understand that beauty is not defined by how pretty we look in that makeup. It is essential to understand that we are beautiful without makeup. But is it easy to stop using makeup at once? Of course not. So, allow us to give you some motivation to go makeup-free.

1. The natural look is attractive.

You look amazing with no makeup on. It’s also kind of a big beauty trend right now. Why not jump onboard one of the most comfortable beauty trends and put away the makeup for a day?

2. Makeup is a costly affair!

Think back over the last year at how much you’ve spent on foundation, concealer, mascara, eye shadow, lipstick, highlighter, bronzer, etc. It adds up. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars for a liquid foundation that will most likely clog your pores and lead to future breakouts, you could put that money towards a high performing face cream that will improve your skin’s natural appearance.

3. Can you spend so much time on makeup?

Most of us spent anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour every day on makeup. If you only spend 10 minutes a day, you’re still spending 60 hours a year in front of a mirror, applying makeup. You could spend that time getting in a quick workout or fixing yourself an excellent breakfast. It’s 60 free hours or more a year. If that’s not a reason to go makeup-free, we don’t know what is.

4. You can feel more confident in yourself!

In the beginning, it feels awkward, but you’ll quickly realize most people don’t care. Sure, you’ll get some snide remarks from some people, but they’re self-absorbed a-holes. Ignore them. Soon, you’ll feel more confident knowing you’re beautiful with no makeup.

5. Less Mascara = Longer Lashes

Stop using the mascara and witness the magic. You will realize that your lashes are getting longer and healthier day by day. Stop smothering your lashes with massive clumps of mascara daily and aggressively rubber makeup remover on them every night to take it all off. This way, your eyelashes will start looking better naturally than they were before.

6. You start appreciating your true self!

Many women start wearing makeup because they feel pressured to do so. If you’re happy with how you look, you shouldn’t ever be made to cover up your face with tons of makeup. It’s freeing to embrace your flaws and be happy with your appearance.

7. At last, the right ones don't care.

If a guy (or girl) that you are interested in doesn’t like you without makeup, do you want to be with this person? If someone is only attracted to you when you have “your face on,” they are not an ideal partner. It’s a lot better to find this out before beginning a relationship, so exposing your makeup-free self to potential romances upon first meeting them is a great way to weed out those who are superficial enough to recoil at the first hint of a pimple. If our partners aren’t willing to be with us when we’re looking like a mess, then they don’t deserve us at our best!

Moral of the story:

If you genuinely enjoy wearing makeup every day, then by all means: go for it!

But if you wear it because you feel like you need it to cover up imperfections, we urge you to test yourself and try going makeup-free at least one or two days a week. You don’t have to do it all the time. Just skip a few days a week, and you’ll notice a difference.

Be Confident. Be Beautiful. Be You.
